Biography

1. I was born on the 16th November 1977
2. In Kirkwall, Orkney, near to the Highland Park distillery
3. My parents split up when I was a year old.
4. I have three younger sisters and two younger brothers, all of various parentage. The eldest is 6 years younger than me and the youngest is 19 years younger than me.
5. I have lived in Orphir, Stromness, Ilkley, Skye, Bath, Blair Atholl, Edinburgh, New Lanark, Sheffield, Leeds and am now back in Edinburgh.
6. I am very glad to back in my native Scotland and love my life in Edinburgh.
7. I hated school and support home-education.
8. I want cats but we live on the third floor.
9. I am also scared of heights, boats, rodents and losing control.
10. Due to the last point, I have never taken illegal drugs and I don't drink a lot. I have also never smoked.
11. I have taken prozac on and off for several years to control anxiety and panic attacks.
12. I'd rather not take prozac but it does give me a life, and not much else seems to help.
13. I'm trying to buy more fairtrade/organic clothes. Unfortunately it doesn't compete with the H&M sale prices...
14. I have blues eyes and naturally blonde hair, which is very blonde for an adult.
15. I am a vegetarian.
16. I have a very good long-term memory and an appalling short-term memory (which I think is due to number 11).
17. I love being a librarian, but I hated working in public libraries. Charities are the way forward.
18. I love being by the sea.
19. I didn't appreciate living in Orkney when I was a child but now I cry when I leave.
20. I hover between a size 10 and 14, 10 only making fleeting appearances.
21. I love Paris.
22. I love chocolate but am concerned that I eat too much of it.
23. I am a humanist but I am intrigued by religion.
24. I have a degree in psychology.
25. My boyfriend was DEFINITELY worth the wait.
26. He's as mad as me.
27. I have always loved reading and can remember the afternoon that I learned to read.
28. My dad used to teach me the clarinet and my mum used to teach me the piano. I haven't kept either of them up.
29. My family are very important to me, although I don't understand some of them.
30. I worry that I don't take enough exercise but we now have a Nintendo Wii and play sport on it.
31. I also walk a lot.
32. I can't drive and although I would like to, the idea of it makes me nervous.
33. I bear grudges, fortunately it takes a lot to cross me.
34. I didn't go abroad until I was 20, to Poland.
35. I love shopping.
36. I rarely totally dismiss anything.
37. I also rarely promise anything.
38. When I do do 36 and 37 I mean it.
39. I own some underwear from Agent Provocateur.
40. I'd like to own some more!
41. I hardly ever paint my nails.
42. I nearly always wear silver necklaces given to me either by family or my boyfriend.
43. I have never been to Blackpool.
44. Or, to be fair, lots of other places.
45. I cry easily.
46. I can't wait to have my own house and garden to be creative with.
47. I love cooking for people.
48. I have lots of cookery books.
49. I still see my mum as being 32. I will be 32 in a couple of years.
50. I buy too many magazines.
51. I have narrow feet.
52. I used to have a brilliant bodyclock but then I started working shifts in hotels.
53. I love weddings.
54. I love looking at catalogues.
55. I don't like very hot weather.
56. I love knitting and am trying to find more creative things to do.
57. I love going over the Forth Bridge.
58. I love the smell of bookshops.
59. Sometimes I'd like to be four again.
60. I never had a My Little Pony or a dollshouse.
61. I believe that sometimes you have to take the long way round.
62. Sometimes you have to do something to find out that you don't want to do it.
63. I used to try not to speak in an Orcadian accent but I'd quite like to now.
64. I used to collect bits of washed up broken plates from the beach when I was a child. Actually, I still do.
65. I am very happy in my own company.
66. I am a snob but this seems to be getting better now I no longer work with the public..
67. I hope to move to Skye with my boyfriend in a few years and set up a research business.
68. I've lost the knack of making good pancakes.
69. I like swearing.
70. I'm clumsy.
71. Sometimes I can be very shy and sometimes I can be very confident.
72. I like stodgy, starchy food.
73. I laugh a lot.
74. I don't really understand the concept of a bikini line. Why not just make bikins bigger?
75. I think that sex is one of the best ways to spend an afternoon.
76. I'm full of ideas but often don't see them through.
77. I'd like to be more tidy.
78. I hope to write a book one day.
79. I don't especially miss living in England, but I do miss my family.
80. My favourite colour is blue.
81. I think that Trinny and Susannah are right.
82. Working in poor areas depressed me because most people just don't seem to want, or have the courage, to get themselves out of it.
83. Since I stopped working in poor areas I have become more liberal again.
84. I am a floating voter, always left of centre.
85. I don't agree with smacking.
86. The general public annoy me even though I am part of it.
87. I have lots of books.
88. I attach a lot of meaning to my posessions.
89. I'd like to have a super-kingsize bed with a luxury sprung orthopedic mattress.
90. I can be very intolerant of things like cigarette smoke and slamming doors.
91. I'm certain that I slam doors, although usually by accident.
92. I like to have the radio, music or tv on in the background, but I also enjoy silence.
93. I enjoy reading poetry.
94. I don't like most rap, metal and jazz.
95. I love the smell of seaweed as it reminds me of being a child.
96. I like the idea of parties but I'm not very good at them.
97. I still like shiny, sparkly, frilly, pink things.
98. I like sleeping and being in bed.
99. I like buying presents.
100. I'll get me coat.
