A festive meme
Seen at A Nawny Moose.
1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot chocolate, I had a delicious one at Coco of Bruntsfield this afternoon, highly recommended. I've never had egg nog though, is it worth trying?
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Wraps them and puts them in a stocking.
3.
Coloured lights or white on tree/house? White, definitely.
4. Do you hang mistletoe? No, not because I don't want to, just never have.
5. When do you put your decorations up? They're up now, a little early but we needed to see if the lights we already had were enough for the tree before my dad took us to Ikea on Monday.
6.
What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Bubble and squeak, vegetarian version of course. In our family Hugh makes in on Boxing Day.
7. Favorite holiday memory as a child? So many! I'll go with the night I heard Santa. I must have been about 3 or 4 and I woke up in the night on Christmas Eve. I used to keep my stocking in the kitchen because I was scared of Santa coming into my bedroom. When I woke up I heard a rattling sound coming from the kitchen. Next morning, when I was opening my stocking I got a house-shaped tin full of smartie-type sweets. I shook it - and it made the same sound as I had heard in the night. Wow, I heard Santa!
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I know I was about 8, but I don't remember how.
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? No.
10.
How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? With decorations I've been collecting over the years. I think that's one of the whole points of tree decorations, they almost have a history with them. I've no time for people who buy a whole new matching set each year.
11. Snow, love it or dread it? It's fine as long as I don't have to go out in it.
12. Do you know how to ice skate? No.
13.
Do you remember your favorite gift? Absolutely no idea, so many to choose from. Good ones were the toy bunkbeds Hugh made, my baby doll, Lego train set...
14. What's the most important thing about the holidays for you? Family, friends, food and rest.
15. What is your favorite holiday dessert? Yule log, if I ever had one. I quite like Christmas pudding, even though I'm not a fan of dried fruit.
16.
What is your favorite holiday tradition? Hm, kind of creating new ones now with Jon, probably going on the Torchlight Procession. If I was at my mums it would be making mulled wine and have fondue on Christmas Eve. Still going to make mulled wine though!
17. What tops your tree? A star reflecting the amazing skies we see at this time of year because of the cold, cloudless nights.
18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving? I hate this question, of course everyone likes getting presents, but I also get excited about going out choosing and wrapping presents for loved ones.
19. Favorite Christmas Song? I Believe In Father Christmas by Greg Lake. Cheesy but great.
20. Favorite Flavor of Candy Canes? Not that bothered by them to be honest.
Your turn!
