The year in Chatiryworld
How to sum 2007 up? Meh. Blighted by an arsehole called Gavin who disturbed our sleep in the New Town over the course of six months, enough to get landlords and police involved, and finally enough to hand over wads of cash to facilitate moving the hell away. Best money we spent. Two 30th birthdays, loads of friends having babies, wonderfully warm trip to Skye, new electrical equipment and the end of a marriage meaning yet more changes in my family. So here goes:
January - We saw a bit of Celtic Connections and went to see our mums. I returned with flu.
February - Basically, if it wasn't for Jon's birthday I'd at last write this month off, hopefully 2008 will not add to my theory that February Is When Bad Stuff Happens. Big family change and our landlord decides to sell up. Friends and other bloggers have a tough time of it too so we just look at bunnies to make everything seem nice again. Amidst all the packing Jon turns 30.
March - Yay, February is over! We move to the New Town into a sweet little flat. Sadly it doesn't take Gavin long to spoil it all and any growing love we had for the flat starts to fade.
April - I get a new camera and have a bit of a sewing frenzy. My mum and Hugh come to visit but I have a bad cold. The Wii arrives! Scotland gears up for an election.
May - Is Skye going to change it's name or are Scotsman journalists just lazy? Chatiryworld is a Typepad Featured Blog (yikes). I let you in on my IBS.
June - Time for a bit of peace and quiet, and warm weather in Skye. And some good food. I knit on dpns for the first time. Not blogged, but we decide to move.
July - Two years together celebrated with a day in Glasgow. And we find a new flat, we can't move into it until the end of August but the mere thought keeps us sane. I get round to writing about our Skye holiday. Why you should all watch The Wire.
August - Sleeping in the spare room is the only we can cope with the neighbours (and at least we're sleeping together in the spare room...) and in the end we call the police. Quick trip to Yorkshire before moving.
September - Life is so much better when you sleep properly! Not that our new flat is silent, it's just that no one plays loud music at 2.30am. Plus there's the added bonus of Free Cat.
October - How civilised are we? Jon and I waste a couple of hours of our lives on a Skye-made film. More sewing, and I'm starting to find it easier.
November - I post every day. I get another cold and turn 30 but apparently I haven't achieved all I should have (not that I'm bothered about it).
December - The Advent Calender returns and the subject of grace gets people in Skye (and me) riled. I post a knitting tutorial, my first. The days of sharing an iBook are over as the new Mac arrives, it's so shiny! Hurrah! And a fun Christmas Day is had by all.
Here's to 2008.
