A guid New Year to ane an' a'!

Hello there, did you all have a good one?  We did, listened to Adam and Joe, watched The Wicker Man, bitched about Jackie Bird (did you know that the new year in Scotland cannot legally begin unless Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham are on the BBC Scotland Hogmanay coverage?) and watched the Corstorphine Hill fireworks from the window.

Looking at last year's new year post, we didn't start to learn Gaelic and we didn't go to Paris for my birthday (thankfully, as we would have spent it in a hotel room feeling ill), but we did go to Skye, I did do more sewing and I only threw up once as I watched what I ate a lot more (this doesn't mean I find it easy to resist bad stuff and have had a fair few stomach aches because of it).  Jon's summed up where we stand with regard to our plans to move north.

What will this year bring?  Who knows, we certainly didn't expect everything that happened last year, although I'm not too keen on the concept of 'blaming' a year, as bad stuff happens, and sometimes it happens all in the space of a year.  We'll holiday in Skye again, and hopefully train it over to Belgium and/or France.  I'm off to Paris in two weeks for work, whilst I'm not relishing the idea of being away from Jon for four nights I'm going to be so busy the time should go quickly.  I do have two free half days, and rather than do anything specifically cultural I'm going to wander with my camera and do some window shopping.  Work itself should keep me busy next year (not that it ever doesn't) with a good course and a really interesting project.  I'm aiming to start an indexing course late spring.  Plus I want to learn about designing knitting patterns so I can maybe think about selling my stuff.  A fair few people have asked about this but as 99% of my knitting has been from other people's patterns, I can't sell it.

And whatever else turns up will be dealt with as and when.  Here's to a happy and healthy year to all of you, as that's what matters most.
