The other week I blogged about my little friend Emily's fundraising efforts, as noted the other day she's gone well over her target and a lot of money will be making its way to Aid for Children with Tracheostomies (ACT).
I decided that I wanted to do something to help as well, not having loads of cash or a medical degree generally limits my abilities to do anything significant for her personally. So I'm going to put my knitting skills to good use and make up some baby hats to sell. I've discovered that knitted hat designer extraordinaire, Woolly Wormhead, has recently published a booklet of patterns for hats for the under ones, with a very generous charity license.
All hats will therefore be knitted from the Wee Woolly Toppers booklet, using spare yarn in my stash. Each hat costs a £10 donation to Emily's Just Giving page and are available on a first come, first served basis, so don't go donating until you know you've got the hat (well, anyone can donate as much as they want to, it's just if you definitely want a hat out of it you'll need to email me first!). If you spot a hat you want, email me at chatiryATgmailDOTcom. Once I've confirmed the hat is yours, donate away (you can donate anonymously but please mention 'Helping Hats' in the comment box) and then I'll send it out once I've got your address. As I'm covering postage (keeps it simple and transparent), hats can only be sent within the UK.
I'm aiming to knit a hat a week, they are a good antidote to the complex lace stuff I'm doing for myself. And here are the first two:

This is Bamboo Doodie, size 0-3 months but quite stretchy. It's made from RYC Soft Bamboo (100% bamboo) and is very soft. Although I don't like taking photos with flash, this does show you a truer colour than the ones I took without.

This is Kureyon Elfin, size 3-6 months. It's made from Noro Kureyon (100% wool) and is very warm and cosy.
So, if you want either of these, please email me at chatiryATgmailDOTcom. I'm casting on another tonight...
